This is one of the very first shows that Leslie West and Co did after he cleaned himself up. Mountain had been essentially out of business for many years due to Leslie's astounding drug and alcohol addictions. Fortunately for all of us, especially Mr. West himself, he was able to kick the habit and make a successful go of it in rehab. If you have seen Mountain more recently, it's tough to reconcile the (buff??) thinner appearance he has with the way he looked during, say, Woodstock. One thing is for sure, he snarls better than ever in concert!
This concert was a surprise, one-off gig that was broadcast as a live feed (possibly by WNEW FM)directly over the radio. All commercial material seems cut from the cassette I have. The tape is not a copy, it's directly from the radio. It may also not be the entire show, but it seems to be all that was broadcast.
There were two L'amours in New York. L'amour in Brooklyn (which is still there), and L'amour East in Queens (not sure what it is now, but it's long gone). I do not know which L'amour it was, as there were several Mountain broadcasts. This was the first one. "Go For Your Life" (another "kick the habit" reference) had just been released, or was just going to be released. The year and month are absolutely correct, but the tape was not labeled until around month's end and no record was kept as to the exact day.

If you expect drippy psychedelic music from the Fudge in 2004, forget it! They played hard. Amazingly hard. Harder than you can imagine. They could have woken the dead kind of hard. The energy was as high as a band half their age, and that's understating it.
Um... They also did "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?". Some of you might remember that as a Rod Stewart number from the Disco era. Wassadisco??? Ask yer mother, but if she proceeds to do the bump with you and you are fourteen and she is 35 and still turning heads, I am not responsible!
Next: The Vanilla Fudge are pushing privately pressed live CD's on their tours. Those performances are digital soundboard, as well as being supported by the band (but, why are you at this site instead? OHHH, THAT reason! :) ). I would have liked to have told you that you could support the band by buying those online instead of sucking the freebie offered here, but for some odd reason their online store is all boarded up. What I can say, is if you like this show, contact the individual band members at vanillafudge.com, and find out how to order them, or better yet, buy a ticket to their shows and have them sign it for you in person!
Finally: The recording is clear as a bell audience, by the way.

This would be a semi-reunion of Creedence Clearwater Revival, featuring only John Fogerty and Doug Clifford. Stu Cook was not part of this event, not was Tom Fogerty. The band was not billed as CCR, but the original band name of the Blue Velvets.

IN THE BEGINNING
Recorded in late 1971 at the De Lane Lea Studios in London.
These are actual demos, not the usual "faked"demos that have poppedup
over the last few years. Sound quality is very good as it came from the original tapes.
This CD is a must have for any collector. (Total Disc Time 27:10)

Around September 1971, Brian May met up with an old friend, Terry Yeadon,
who was involved in the setting up of a new recording studio in Wembley called
De Lane Lea The studios needed musicians to try out the new equipment they had installed -
and preferably a band who could play loud ! The deal was that the musicians would record
using the equipment, and potential studio users would be on hand to hear and watch them.
In return for their services the band could record their demos for free. It was an opportunity
not to be missed and, of course Queen jumped at it. Not only would they be able to make the
all important demo tapes, but they would have ample occasion to meet producers and engineers,
people who could be vital to their future. The rest is history.............

Awesome gig!! Scorpions really rock!! They've played nearly 2h20!!
And some problems during the show : for Love'em or Leave'em, Rudy jumped too much, and hurt hilself at the foot, so he had to stay at the rear during the whole gig, suffering a lot, Uli got gitar problems during Pictured Life, and had to leave the stage during few minutes to fix the problems, Kojo No Tsuki + I'm leaving you played while Uli wasn't on stage, an awesome Drum N' Bass solo (Kottack is really completly mad!!), and When The Smoke Is Going Down to close the show!

This is probably the first & rarest bootleg LP of Jimi Hendrix !
Released in April 1970, 4000 Jamaican pressing copies reported but probably far less, it sported a plain jacket & black centre labels. A number of copies were circulated & sold with Black Panther propaganda inside.

The title came from the enclosed slip of paper which stated:
"This Flyer is for the man who walked into a pad at Woodstock, raised his axe and talk to the people around him, and they talked together"

The album contained 4 untitled jams, a long affair which dominate side 1 and 3 shorter pieces on side 2, including "Flying", the only one with lyrics. Recorded on September 19(?), 1969 at Shokan House around Woodstock, the jams featured unknown Welsh pianist Mike Ephron with Juma Sultan on flute & percussion and Jerry Velez also on percussion.

Here are the (3) AUD sources for Zeppelins' Tampa '77 show, including stage announcements and new broadcasts. All sources are from the masters with the first being the most distant. Source 2 especially is an excellent recording with very little disturbance.

Even though the playing is exceptional, gutsy and strong the show had to be called off due to a severe rainstorm breaking out and a danger of electrocution threatening the event. After only 3 songs, the show was cancelled and a huge riot broke out. The stadium was trashed and the subsequent riot was extensively covered by the press, and it's marvelously preserved in these recordings. The sound is excellent and the playing is great!
