This is one of the best piece of instrumental west coast music I ever heard in my life. Those are the r. for the movie "68" (the cover of the vhs is posted below), featuring Neil Young as a motorcycle vendor, and in which you have a short but fantastic live appearance of 68 Band at the Golden Gate Park. The camera open on a John's guitar solo and you can see well Wilheim and the other guys for circa 2 minutes.

Really good audience recording with some minor drops and some distortion in some points that does not bother too much. So you know, please do not post the usual boring comments about those flaws.
This is the only live appearance as 68 Band and the show is great and really rare, so it worths to be heard, even if is it not perfect sounding.

Peace! ENJOY!!!

Late Show

The late show from June 8, 1968 again finds the band in great form, but with less of a focus on cover material, in a set featuring several of the group’s classic original compositions. The covers they do perform display a wide range of material, from the pop confection of the Association's "Never My Love" to Aretha Franklin's soulful arrangement of "Sweet, Sweet Baby." The group also performs a slow blues number by James Brown, as well as the rock staple "Hey Joe," immortalized by Jimi Hendrix. Some of the band's best original material is featured in this set, including Steve Cropper's "Knock On Wood," "Booker T.'s "Booker Lou," as well as two of their biggest most influential hits, "Hip Hug-Her" and "Green Onions."
In all these performances, it is Booker T'.s massive organ sound that dominates, but it is the accompaniment provided by Cropper, Dunn and Jackson that truly propels the music. The group does not rely on flash or gimmicks, but rather displays a seasoned sense of style that is the epitome of taste and technique. Steve Cropper's economical guitar playing is particularly impressive, always enhancing their groove-heavy Memphis soul.

Early Show

The early show from June 8, 1968 finds the band in great form, performing instrumental arrangements of many classic songs from the era. Much of this set focuses on highly recognizable covers, such as the Rascals' "Groovin," Bobbie Gentry's smoldering "Ode To Billy Joe" and the Motown classic "You Keep Me Hangin' On," which here owes as much to the organ-heavy Vanilla Fudge arrangement as it does to the original. The band’s own arrangement of Otis Redding's “Dock Of The Bay” is also included, as is a funky take on the classic "Expressway (To Your Heart)."

Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi

Shibuya Public Hall

april 28, 1985

This Tokyo show was recorded just a year before the band’s enormous breakthrough album, Slippery When Wet, was cut. The New Jersey quintet proves an entirely capable ‘80s metal hair band on the threshold of widespread commercial success as they perform in front of an audience of seemingly out of control Japanese fans. The magnetic songwriting team of Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora had not yet completely developed, and the material here is, for the most part, void of any radio hits (with the exception of "Runaway").

Outlaw country artist Bobby Bare was always a big draw in the South - especially in Florida - so it was a big deal for the audience when this show was recorded in West Palm Beach in 1986 for the American Eagle Cross Country Radio Concert Series.

Early Show

This early show was dramatically different than its later counterpart, which was to be recorded for a live radio broadcast. Even so, Bare - sloppy and careless as ever as a performer - exudes his country outlaw charisma with conviction during this 13-song set featuring such classics as “Up Against The Wall, Redneck Mother” and “Tequila Sheila.”

Early Show

Outlaw country singer Bobby Bare recorded several shows during 1983 and 1984 for the Silver Eagle Cross Country Radio Concert Series, including an early and late show at New York’s Lone Star Café on 52nd Street. For this show, he and his band open with “Marie Laveau,” an original that Bare wrote about a legendary New Orleans prostitute. The song’s country-swamp vibe gets his audience in a party mood, and Bare has no problem keeping them there.

Bob Marley and the Wailers

Bob Marley and the Wailers

Oakland Auditorium

november 30, 1979

Bob Marley had gone from “critic’s darling” and “buzz-driven roots rocker” to bona fide reggae superstar by the time he arrived in Oakland, California in the fall of 1979 to perform this show with his band, the Wailers. Record executive Chris Blackwell might have discovered Marley in his native Jamaica and exposed him to a massive global audience, but it was rock icons like Eric Clapton, who were singing both his praises and his songs, that helped forward Marley’s popularity in America.
This Marley show, recorded less than two years before his untimely death from brain cancer, is similar to the extended performance found on 1978’s Babylon by Bus double live album. Marley lived for the stage, and this show is ample proof that he was one of the most electrifying performers ever to emerge from the international music scene. Like another falling star from an earlier era, Jimi Hendrix, Marley shot across the pop culture landscape like a flaming comet - and before he could be fully recognized for his artistic brilliance - was gone. That’s at least one reason why his legacy has elevated him to near mythical proportions.

Late Show

Bob Marley and the Wailers were completely jacked and ready to rock by the time they hit the stage for this, the second of two shows recorded in June 1978 for the King Biscuit Flower Hour. A good deal different than the early show, this recording is a better representation of what Marley did at most of his legendary U.S. concerts.

Early Show

Bob Marley and the Wailers had finally broken through the American mainstream by the time this show (the first of two recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour on the same day) was performed. It had been five years since the Wailers had emerged from Jamaica, on Chris Blackwell’s Island Records, and become the darlings of music journalists with classics such as "Get Up Stand Up," "No Woman, No Cry" and "I Shot The Sheriff," the latter of which Eric Clapton had brought to the U.S. Top 10 charts in '74. Abroad, their infectious blend of reggae had found a solid and well received niche in the pop mainstream, and Marley had become one of the most powerful and influential figures in his native country.

The group recorded this show for the King Biscuit Flower Hour in December of 1979, they were at the top of their game with the release of Blondie's fourth album, Eat To The Beat. Although it was a new track at the time, "Dreamin'" would go on to be one its biggest hits. The rest of this short set features classic Blondie songs, even if they are not the biggest hits the band released during this time period. "In The Sun," is one of the better songs Harry ever sang, and the compelling "Sunday Girl," is simply a great pop song.

The year was 1989; the location, the heart of Hollywood's Sunset Strip. The Palladium, a springboard for boosting numerous "home grown" bands, was unquestionably the place to play. For one night in August, however, the Palladium hardly felt like the usual West Coast hotspot; with Blackfoot on the bill, it belonged to the South. "We were so psyched because we were headlining the Palladium on the Sunset Strip. It was a really big thing for us," recalls Blackfoot co-founding member and frontman Rickey Medlocke. "I remember it as just being a very positive night…and we went out and started kicking major butt!"

Dandy found himself in a uniquely successful position when he sat down to discuss Black Oak Arkansas' famed 1976 Reading show, which had been recorded and released by the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Speaking of the early years, Dandy relates, “It didn’t take me 30 years to learn how to sing, it took me 30 years to get over all the damage I did when I was at the top of the world.” From 1972 to 1977, Black Oak Arkansas was among the top five money-making bands in the world. They headlined arenas, sold out stadiums and threw all-night parties with the likes of Aerosmith, Kiss and Bad Company. “Most of the big acts opened for us,” remembers Dandy. “Hell, Kiss even burned down one of our backdrops.”

This recording of America was originally made for the King Biscuit Flower Hour, while the band was on tour with Kenny Loggins. Uniquely, the group had experienced commercial success on two different record labels - first with Warner Brothers', and later, with Capitol Records. Though the group had actually been recorded by King Biscuit earlier, in 1978, this concert features hits from America's years with both labels, and offers a more consummate representation of the group's repertoire. "I remember we were always thrilled to do King Biscuit," Bunnell recalls. "It was exciting if you could hear a group you really loved live. We knew it was a pretty prestigious thing to be on the Biscuit, and I think that was reflected in the energy of the show. It was also a validation of sorts for the two-man version of the band."

may 10, 1978

This recording was made during Cooper’s early 1978 tour, which he had launched to promote his first live album, The Alice Cooper Show, three years after the original and enormously popular Alice Cooper Band had been dissolved. Cooper himself was trying to make the transition from camp-ish rock ghoul to more mainstream pop icon, as songs like "Only Women Bleed," and "How You Gonna See Me Now?" clearly reveal.

The tour from which this concert was recorded (originally in July 1975, for the King Biscuit Flower Hour) is when Vincent Furnier officially became known as Alice Cooper, and the band previously going by that moniker was disbanded. Alice Cooper was the name of a 17th century witch that had come to Furnier during a game of Ouji board. After nearly five years in the international spotlight as the king of shock rock, Cooper had decided it was time to strike out on his own, but unlike most lead singers who are eager to shed the image they had with their initial bands, Cooper made a seamless transition, changing only the musicians.

The Yardbirds feat Jimmy Page

The Yardbirds feat. Jimmy Pagge

march 30, 1968.
Anderson Theater, New York

Arguably the most famous lost live album in history, Live Yardbirds Featuring Jimmy Page, cut at the Anderson Theater in New York on March 30, 1968, has been issued twice on vinyl legitimately (only to be suppressed by legal action) and innumerable times since as a bootleg. In August 2000, Mooreland St. Records put out the first authorized CD edition of the performance, and it is a complete revelation. The original master tape has been improved significantly; the absence of vinyl noise is an obvious plus, but the sheer impact of the instruments is also startling, given that the show was taped by a producer who had never recorded a rock band before, on equipment that was ten years out of date. The producers have expanded this reissue with help from a separate reference tape, an audience recording that preserved the complete unedited show; it's somewhat low-fi, but it captures material edited from the finished master, and it allows for the restoration of little nuances. Page's guitar (which goes out of tune several times) is the dominant instrument, alternately crunchy and lyrical, but always loud and dexterous; the roughness of Keith Relf's singing is also more apparent, but his shortcomings don't really hurt the music. The performance also reveals just how far out in front of the psychedelic pack the Yardbirds were by the spring of 1968; Page had pushed the envelope about as far as he could, in terms of high-velocity guitar pyrotechnics. Ironically, this album isn't quite as strong as the contemporary Truth album by Jeff Beck, mostly because the Yardbirds were still juggling three sounds: the group's progressive pop/rock past, the psychedelia of 1968, and a harder, more advanced blues-based sound. It's clear that they had few places left to go with the first two; "Dazed and Confused," by contrast, represented something new, a slow blues as dark, forbidding, and intense as anything that the band had ever cut -- it showed where Page, if not this band, was heading.(Bruce Eder, All Music Guide)This album was originally recorded in 1968 during The Yardbirds' final incarnation, which featured Jimmy Page as the band's fourth guitarist. The band played a live gig at the Anderson Theater in New York in March of '68 that was recorded for possible issuance as a live album; however, when the band heard the tapes, they decided against its release. Four months later, The Yardbirds were history. In 1971, the band's old U.S. label released the album to capitalize on Page's sudden success with Led Zeppelin. Page quickly got an injunction against the label, and album was withdrawn from the market. The vinyl version of the album is very scarce

Bottom Line
New York, NY
11/08/1978
This recording, along with a series of other shows around the time, was cut at New York’s famed Bottom Line club. The Doctor, as he is often called, was promoting his City Lights album on the now-defunct Horizons/A&M jazz-pop label. City Lights, which features an eerie painting of the New York City skyline that shows the World Trade Center melting down as dripping, burning candles, is now out of print but has long been regarded as one of his best studio album’s ever.

Dr. John, whose real name is Mac Rabennack, recorded this show on the first of two nights when he held court at New York’s famed Bottom Line. Dr. John had left Atlantic/Atco Records (where he had recorded since 1967) and was on A&M’s jazz-pop imprint, Horizon Records. Although he had his biggest commercial hits while on the Atco label, he made some of his best recordings during this period on Horizon.

Electric Light Orchestra - 1976.02.14.

Winterland

02/14/1976

Date Night 1976: It’s Valentine’s Day at San Francisco’s legendary Winterland Theater and Electric Light Orchestra, with their heavily orchestrated pop-sound, is supplying the soundtrack.
Electric Light Orchestra was at the top of their game when this concert was recorded. The band was right in the middle of a run of Top 10 hits that started in 1973 (with their second LP, ELO II), and continued throughout the rest of the ‘70s. ELO (which, like ELP and CSN became the band’s name when most DJs chose not to spit out their full name), was hawking their fifth studio album in four years, Face The Music.

Milwaukee Arena
Milwaukee, WI
02/26/1984 This short opening set, recorded as part of a King Biscuit Flower Hour broadcast, shows the bands in their initial stage before all the fame and MTV exposure set in. They would go on to have a strong career in the metal scene, both here and abroad, before splintering into different projects in the late 1980s, when George Lynch decided to launch his own band, Lynch Mob. This original lineup did reunite again between 1992 and 1998 and made both studio and live albums, but by then the metal scene had changed dramatically, and they split again at the turn of the decade.

By the time Dire Straits recorded this show for the King Biscuit Flower Hour at London’s famed Hammersmith Odeon Theater in the spring of 1983, they had become one of the most critically acclaimed rock bands on the planet. With singer/songwriter/guitarist Mark Knopfler at the helm, they had already released three platinum albums, and were out with a brand new fourth album, entitled Love over Gold.

Devo - 1981.11.05.

Orpheum Theatre

11/05/1981

This is not a complete show, since only nine songs appear; but what is here is pretty good. Some of the band’s most popular songs are featured, including “Jerkin’ Back N’ Forth,” “Girl U Want” and “Whip It,” which receives a huge response from the crowd. Their version of the Lee Dorsey R&B classic “Working In The Coal Mine” (written by New Orleans legend Allen Touissant) is quite amusing and somewhat catchy, despite its obvious novelty arrangement.

Ozzy may be the Prince of Darkness, but Ronnie James Dio is the Elfin King of Evil!

Performance values and technical ability have been all but abolished from rock 'n' roll. Attempting anything even remotely approximating a Dio show could potentially get a band laughed off the stage - and that’s what makes it great. It takes guts and no small amount of talent to pull this off, and if done correctly, no one can deny its entertainment value. So, stand up and shout! This is DIO!

Derek & the Dominos - 1970.10.23.

Fillmore East
New York, NY
10/23/1970
Late Show
This is a complete recording of the late show Derek and the Dominos played as headliners over Ballin’ Jack and Humble Pie at the Fillmore East.
After months touring with Delaney and Bonnie and collaborating with them on his first solo album, Clapton took the nucleus of his band - Whitlock, Radle and Gordon - and formed Derek and the Dominos. By 1970, Clapton had amassed an impressive catalogue on which to draw, and these musicians jelled in a way that certainly brought out the best in the material. For many fans, this quartet was the most consistently exciting group Clapton ever toured with, and these concerts feature some of the most passionate live playing of his career.

David Bowie - 1983.07.12.

Montreal, Quebec
07/12/1983
Early Show

Smiling and obviously happy with his newfound artistic muse, David Bowie greeted a sold out Montreal forum on this night, and launched into a brilliant show full of both hits from Let’s Dance and some of the more radio-friendly tracks he had done during his Berlin sojourn. Fronting a killer band, Bowie began the evening with three lesser known hits - "Look Back In Anger," "Breaking Glass" and "Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)" - before launching into "Rebel, Rebel," his 1974 hit single from the Diamond Dogs LP. This tour reunited Bowie with guitarist Earl Slick, who had replaced Mick Ronson for the Diamond Dogs recording sessions. Slick delivers the rock edge that had been missing from his music made during the Berlin years. The band is propelled by former Chic/Power Station drummer Tony Thompson, who, along with members of the Tower of Power horn section, helps make this one of the best backing bands in his long musical career.

Eric Clapton - 1978.02.12.

Santa Monica Civic Auditorium
Santa Monica, CA
02/12/1978

Recorded at the end of his Slowhand ‘77/’78 tour, this blistering Eric Clapton show, originally recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show, is an excellent example of how amazing a live artist the man had become by the late 1970s. Freed of his drug and alcohol demons, Clapton had finally assembled a backup band that gave him both the freedom both to step forward and control the starlight or sink into the cohesion of being just another member of the band.

This Clapton show was recorded in the spring of 1985, one month after the release of Behind the Sun, the Phil Collins-produced studio album that would place him back atop FM radio playlists with singles “She’s Waiting” and “Forever Man.” Clapton had assembled a crackerjack band comprised of most the musicians who appeared on the album - a crew including former Joe Cocker keyboardist Chris Stainton, ex-Fairport Convention guitarist Tim Renwick, future Little Feat vocalist Shaun Murphy and Donald “Duck” Dunn, bassist from the legendary Booker T. & the MG's.

Clarence Clemons & the Red Bank Rockers - 1983.11.25.

Ripley's Music Hall
Philadelphia, PA
11/25/1983
Early Show

Clarence Clemons, also known as “The Big Man” in his other life as a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, had a viable solo career when he released a couple of successful albums in the mid-1980s. This show was recorded at the onset of his first solo U.S. tour, at Ripley’s Music Hall in Philadelphia, a favorite spot of the Springsteen crowd.

A Flock of Seagulls - 1983.06.01.

It must have been quite the sight when members of A Flock of Seagulls walked through the backstage entrance of the famed Grand Ole Opry Theater in Nashville to perform this show on their 1983 U.S. tour. Granted the mostly country western music venue also presents rock and R&B concerts, but still, those good 'ole boys in the stage-hand’s union must have done a double take when the eccentric '80s new wave group showed up for sound check.Whatever happened backstage, the Seagulls went down extremely well in front of this mostly Nashville audience. The group, which first came to national attention in 1982 with their hit single “I Ran (So Far Away)” was touring mostly off the success from the heavily rotated MTV video. Formed by hairdressers Mike Score and Frank Maudsley, the group had initially made a name for themselves more for their wildly teased hairdos and futuristic fashions than their music. The band was here to prove they could play - if you count the heavily pre-programmed synths and drums playing - and they do indeed deliver, especially with an eight-minute version of “Committed,” the musical highlight of the show.
